Reaction to the Korean War
President Truman sent in UN troops to help the cause. These soldiers essentially were fighting with their lives to protect and enforce the US's ideals. They were sent in with confidence that they will give the South Koreans the push to fight the Communists back to the 38th Parallel. A hero from World War II, General MacArthur, was sent in with marines. With his daredevil plans, the troops pushed the Communist back all the way to the previous border. President Truman hearing this, wanted to push the Communists out of the Korean Peninsula. General MacArthur happily complied. (Forgotten) The troops kept bombing the Communists out of Korea until they were basically at China's border. The Chinese warned that they would send in troops if the bombings were to continue. General MacArthur told a concerned President Truman that it was an empty threat. He was gravely mistaken. The Chinese intervened with supplies from the Soviets to support them. The US was in trouble.
